Default Definition of Computer RPG's

I thought that this would be a great link to look at for those of you who want to know what a computer RPG's is. I thought that it was a good insight on what an RPG really is. Maybe some of you whould like to compare some of thier examples to GW.

I'm sure there are other sites that has a definition of RPG's as well, but this was the first one I saw.

P.S. Be sure to scoll down and check out the whole article like the character development, layout and history...etc.

All GW has of a real RPG is being called that way. It lacks in all senses what a role playing game should have.

Well, it has skills, attributes and professions. And better loot, armor, etc., the higher you advance. With a cap, which basically, ALL RPGs have. It's just that GWs cap is lower than most, and will probably never be raised. I know in a certain point in D&D, all you're doing is getting more HPs. You already have all the spells or skills or whatever, you've really peaked at a certain level. I've never played EQ or WoW, but I can't imagine a huge difference in abilities between a Level 60 and Level 70 character. Are there?

What else would you call GW? A shooter? A RTS game?

No, it's an RPG game, although admittedly ALL computer RPGs are weak compared to Pen and Paper ones. Without a real live GM to interact with, you simply cannot have the creativity and openess you can in your living room rolling dice...

That said, the advantage of computer MMORPGs is that you can play with 100s of people.... in that since, GW breaks the mold of the current RPGs, and is just a ORPG, or CORPG.

But it's still, in essence, a computer RPG. With over a million people playing.

You know lvl 20 really isn't low. Once upon a time, 20 was the cap in D&D. Anything above that was considered "demigod" status and the DM took permanent control of your character.
